Liazon Named One of the Best Places to Work in Insurance

October 22, 2012

NEW YORK (October 22, 2012) – Business Insurance today named Liazon Corporation as one of the Best Places to Work in Insurance. Liazon was ranked No. 3 in its category. The award comes two months after the company’s debut at #132 on the prestigious Inc. 500 list. Liazon currently has 79 full time employees and is expanding its team to keep up with its 100% year-over-year growth. Employment opportunities can be found on Liazon’s career page.

The annual competition, administered by Business Insurance and the Best Companies Group, is open to all publicly or privately held companies that serve the commercial insurance market and have at least 25 U.S. employees. Companies were chosen for creating high-quality workplaces and work environments where employees thrive. The selection process included several months of in-depth evaluation, which included an employee engagement and satisfaction survey designed to assess the workplace experience and company culture.

“Our team is united around a common purpose which gives us a great deal of satisfaction and fulfillment from our work,” said Ashok Subramanian, CEO and co-founder of Liazon. “Our goal was to build a workplace that we would be excited to come to every day. I feel that we have accomplished this and as a result, we continue to attract the very best and brightest in our industry.”

One of the keys to Liazon’s success is a company culture based on trust and accountability. Company policies are set up as broad guidelines rather than rules. Liazon also goes a long way to foster openness through regularly scheduled company-wide town hall meetings and access to senior management for employees at all levels of the organization. In addition, all employees share in the same broad benefits choices Liazon enables for its customers through its Bright Choices® Exchange, including a choice of several health plans and dental plans, vision, life, supplemental health, disability, telemedicine, wellness programs, HSAs, FSAs, and even pet insurance.

“The theme of the Fast Track 50 award is ‘Driving Western New York’s Economy’ and we’re proud to be part of it,” Subramanian said. “Buffalo is where we proved that our new ideas work. Companies here have been quick to pick up on this innovation and now we are expanding to other parts of the state and country.”

Company-wide events such as monthly potlucks, organized community service events, and regular celebrations including board game afternoons, bring Liazon employees together. Free snacks, coffee, and occasional ice cream breaks along with a mandatory email-free hour each day helps the Liazon team stay focused throughout the day.
